REPORTS SIGNING OF LAND PURCHASE CONTRACT
Electricity Generating Plc. (EGCOMP) reported that Amata Eggo Power
Co., Ltd. (in which EGCOMP hold 33.77% of the shares) has, on August 29,
1996, signed a contract with Bangpakong Industrial Park 2 Co., Ltd. to
buy a piece of land worth Bt179,701,775 near Bangpakong Industrial Park
on Bangna-Tran Rd., Km.57.
The land, with an area of 65 rai 127 sq wah, will be used to
construct a plant to produce electricity and steam to be sold to
factories in Bangpakong Industrial Park 2 and 60 megawatts of the
electricity produced will also be sold to the Electricity Generating
Authority of Thailand (EGAT) according to its program to buy electricity
from small power producers. The company will request the amount to be
increased to 90 megawatts.
The electricity plant will have a capacity to produce 180-190
megawatts of electricity and steam altogether in the form of combined
cycle by using natural gas from the Petroleum Authority of Thailand as
the main fuel. The exhaust from the gas turbine will be used to produce
steam and electricity through the cogeneration process, which will help
increase the systems efficiency.
