REPORTS AMATA-EGCO POWER CO LTD'S SIGNING IN LOAN CON

Electricity Generating Plc. (EGCOMP) reported that Amata-EGCO Power Co., Ltd, in which Amata Power Co., Ltd. holds not more than 74% and EGCOMP holds not less than 26% of the Bt1-billion registered capital, will sign a loan contract with Kreditanstalt Fur Wiederaufbau (KFW) of Germany and Bangkok Bank (BBL) with the contract details as follows: KFW has approved a long-term loan worth US$100 million (Bt2.5 billion approximately) to support the project to construct an electricity generating plant of Amata-EGCO Power Co., Ltd. without a guarantee from other bank. Meanwhile, BBL has approved the loan in baht worth about Bt900 million, both in short and long terms to support the same project. The power plant construction is presently on the its first phase of of the project in Bangpakong Industrial Park II. The construction is expected to be completed early in 1998. Parts of the electricity distribution will be available around mid of 1997. Seamens AG Co., Ltd. is the turnkey contractor for the project, which is worth more than Bt4.5 billion totally. After the construction is completed, the plant will distribute 70 megawatts of electricity to plants in Bangpakong Industrial Park II and another 90 megawatts to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. In addition, Amata-EGCO Power Co., Ltd. is preparing to expand its generating capacity to 350 megawatts in its second phase of the project to support the increasing electricity demand of factories in Bangpakong Industrial Park II.
