CLARIFICATION ON INVESTMENT IN PHILIPPINES AND VIETNAM

No. EGCO 310/376 Date:August 25, 1998 Attn: The President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Subject: Clarification on investment in Philippines and Vietnam According to the news in Krungthep Turakij dated August 25, 1998 stated that Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCOMP) has planed to jointly invest with local private companies in 2 SPPs in Philippines and Vietnam which have 200 MW. total capacity at the amount of USD 200 million and also to bid in Ratchaburi Power Plant of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), EGCOMP would like to clarify that we did not release this matter. EGCOMP did not invest with any local private companies as stated above. However, these projects are in the feasibility study process. In addition, we plan to invest in Asian countries including the aforesaid countries. Besides, we currently prepare to bid in Ratchaburi Power Plant whenever EGAT allows private sector to participate in Ratchaburi Power Plant solicitation.
