Form 57 (Y2K) Report of the preparation to handle the Year 2000 Problem The Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO) , a holding company, holds 99.99% stake in both the Rayong Electricity Generating Company Limited and the Khanom Electricity Generating Company Limited which generate and supply electricity to The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) as well as holds shares in other subsidiaries and affiliated companies which do electricity related business and other business. EGCO would like to issue the preparation to handle the Year 2000 problem report No.7 as of December 31th , 1999 The preparation to handle the Year 2000 problem According to the Office of Securities Exchange and Commission (SEC) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)'s notifications, listed companies shall issuethe preparation to handle the Year 2000 Problem report and send to SEC and SET together with quarterly financial statement until the problem can be already solved. Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO), as a listed company, submitted the quarterly progress report on Y2K problem to SEC and SET to indicate its intention and commitment in dealing with this problem and to build confidence for the investors and other relevant parties. At present, six reports have been submitted (As of the third quarter of 1999). In addition, a quarterly report was also submitted to the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) in order to be summarized in the national Y2K progress report. EGCO would like to inform the summarized the year 2000 problem as follows: Being aware of the importance of the year 2000 problem which may affect business and power supply for socioeconomic activities, EGCO and its subsidiaries set up the Year 2000 Problem Solving Steering Committee and the Year 2000 Problem Solving Working Group in May 1998 to handle the problem in accordance with the guidelines recommended by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC). The solving problem project was completed since September 1999 to ensure that all systems can be effectively operated before, between and after the Year 2000. The total Y2K budget is approximately Baht 68 million (as of December 1999). The year 2000 problem has been solved on schedule with the cooperation from the management, employees, consultants and manufacturers. As of December 1999, the actual expenditure was approximately Baht 56 million. The contingency plan was developed by initiating action plans for any unexpected event arising from both internal and external factors. Manpower, reserved equipment and budget were also allocated for the effectiveness of the contingency plan. At present, the Year 2000 Problem Solving Steering Committee and the Year 2000 Problem Solving Working Group are pleased to announce that all systems of EGCO and its subsidiaries can be effectively operated roll over to the Year 2000. All systems are assured that will be Y2K compliance for the other critical date without any serious problem.
