THE PURCHASE OF GEC'S ORDINARY SHARES

No. EGCO 410/425 Date : September 21, 2001 Attn : The President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Subject : The purchase of GEC's ordinary shares Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCOMP) previously held 97,500,000 shares in Gulf Electric Public Company Limited (GEC), accounting for 50% of fully paid-up share capital of 195,000,000 shares or Baht 1,950,000,000. GEC's total registered capital is 500,000,000 shares or 5,000,000,000 Baht. EGCOMP would like to inform the Stock Exchange of Thailand that on September 21, 2001, EGCOMP purchased 2,500,000 shares for a total of Baht 25,000,000 in order to maintain 50% stake in GEC. Therefore, EGCOMP currently holds 100,000,000 shares in GEC. As a result, the current issued and fully paid-up share capital of GEC is 200,000,000 shares or Baht 2,000,000,000.
