The postponement of Power Purchase Agreement of NT2

No. EGCO 320/185 Date : July 18, 2003 Attn : President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Subject:The postponement of Power Purchase Agreement of NT2 Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCOMP) would like to inform the Stock Exchange of Thailand that Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited (NTPC),of which its 25% stake is held by EGCOMP, postponed the signing of Power Purchase Agreements with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Electricite du Laos (EDL), which was scheduled to take place on July 18, 2003. EGCOMP has been informed that EDF International (EDFI), which holds 35 % stake in NTPC, has decided to pull out of NTPC consortium following its strategic decision to focus its priorities in Europe. However, EGCOMP is confident that Nam Thuen 2 Project is a quality project that enhances shareholders' value since a Concession Agreement has been signed with the Government of Lao PDR and NTPC is in the process of signing the Power Purchase Agreements with EGAT and EDL.
