No. EGCO 110/001 Date: January 5, 2004 Attn: President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Subject: Suspension of Trading of Securities of Electricity Generating Public Company Limited Whereas we, Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCOMP) received letters from our shareholders, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and CLP Power Projects (Thailand) Limited (CLP), advising that EGAT, CLP and Banpu Public Company Limited have participated in the negotiation of a Memorandum of Understanding which involves among other things the discussion of the sale by EGAT of their shares in EGCOMP to CLP and Banpu Public Company Limited and/or its subsidiaries. We were also advised that upon the execution of the said Memorandum of Understanding, proper disclosure of relevant information will be made in a timely manner. Since the discussion of the sale of such shares is not legally binding, in view to prevent the effect on the trading price of the securities of EGCOMP pending the disclosure of relevant information to the shareholders and investors, we would like to request the Stock Exchange of Thailand to temporarily suspend the trading of securities of EGCOMP until the disclosure of relevant information has been made to the shareholders and investors.
