EGCO Group, NSM host “Automata Wonder” Exhibition at Khanom Learning Center to boost STEAM learning

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group led by Khanom Learning Center, has partnered with the National Science Museum (NSM) to enhance science, technology, innovation, and environmental learning among young people throughout 2025, and to establish the Khanom Learning Center as a sustainable science learning destination in southern Thailand. The first activity under this initiative is the “Automata Wonder” Exhibition, which invites visitors to explore advanced scientific and engineering concepts through automata toys. These interactive displays make learning accessible and enjoyable for all ages and educational backgrounds. The exhibition is designed to spark creativity and inspire interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The exhibition is open now through mid-August 2025, with free admission, at the Khanom Learning Center, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Mr. Nares Chookird, Managing Director of Khanom Electricity Generating Co., Ltd., said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, “EGCO Group, Khanom Power Plant, and the Khanom Learning Center share a mutual belief that “a good beginning leads to a good result”. Therefore, we have incorporated sustainable development into our operations. One key aspect of this commitment is promoting knowledge and learning opportunities about energy and the environment among young people. In 2024, EGCO Group and NSM signed an MOU to support and promote education in energy, science, technology, innovation, and the environment for both youth and the general public. This collaboration has resulted in a variety of activities launched in 2024 and continuing into 2025. The first activity of this year is the “Automata Wonder” Exhibition, where NSM has brought a fascinating collection of automata toys to the Khanom Learning Center. This also marks the debut of this mobile exhibition. Alongside the exhibition, we organized a workshop titled “Automata Toys – Local Wisdom” for teachers in Khanom District and the staff of our learning center, who will go on to share this knowledge and scientific understanding with students and future visitors.”
“The “Automata Wonder” Exhibition and accompanying workshop play a key role in promoting creativity and integrated STEAM learning combined with local wisdom (STEAM+1). This approach helps young people and teachers develop essential 21st-century skills - such as systematic thinking, collaboration, and the ability to apply knowledge in everyday life. I believe this initiative will be a significant driver in establishing Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, as a new sustainable destination for science education, serving both schools and the general public. In the future, it has the potential to become a leading center for learning in energy, science, and innovation in southern Thailand,” added Mr. Nares.
Dr. Peeranut Kanhadilok, Director of National Science Awareness Development Center, National Science Museum (NSM), said at the opening ceremony, “NSM’s mission is to raise awareness of the importance of science in national development and to foster a positive attitude toward science, technology, and innovation among young people and the general public. This is achieved through lifelong learning, engaging exhibitions, and interactive activities. The “Automata Wonder” mobile exhibition, now being held at the Khanom Learning Center, offers a valuable opportunity for young people in southern Thailand and visitors to gain hands-on experience through the “play, learn, understand” approach. Learning about the mechanisms of machines and basic engineering principles through automata toys will undoubtedly spark creativity and inspire interest in STEAM education.”
Interested persons, schools, and young people can visit the “Automata Wonder” Exhibition now until mid-August 2025 at the Kahnom Learning Center, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, with free admission. The exhibition is open on Tuesday-Saturday, from 09.00-16.00 hrs. (closes on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays).
