Khanom Learning Center invites youth to explore secret base and decode nature’s balance during Science Week 2025

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group has transformed the Khanom Learning Center in Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, into a secret base where young people and interested persons can explore innovations and discover the wonders of science in a fun way during Khanom Learning Center’s Science Week 2025. As part of the event, participants will embark on a mission to decode the “Triple R” concept and learn how it contributes to restoring the balance of nature and supporting the surrounding community. The event will also feature a dedicated space for local youth to showcase their creative ideas for improving life in Khanom District. Science Week 2025 will take place under the theme “Scientific Innovation Discovery Journey - EGCO Base: Mission for Change” during 2 - 11 September 2025. A special exhibition will also run from now until Children’s Day 2026. Admission is free.
Mr. Nares Chookird, Managing Director of Khanom Electricity Generating Company Limited, said, “Believing that “A good start will lead to a successful outcome”, EGCO Group and Khanom Power Plant, are dedicated to fostering learning and inspiring young people to explore innovation, science, energy, and the environment. The Khanom Learning Center hosts Science Week annually as part of this commitment. Now in its seventh consecutive year, the 2025 event aims to ignite curiosity and passion in young people for innovation and science - key drivers of community well-being and national progress. By equipping the youth with this knowledge, we hope to nurture responsible global citizens who are aware of the impacts of climate change and committed to positive action. The event also encourages young participants to recognize and develop their potential to care for the environment and manage natural resources sustainably.”
Presiding over the opening ceremony of the Khanom Learning Center’s Science Week 2025, Mr. Witthaya Khiawrot, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, remarked, “One of the greatest resources in Khanom District is the energy and potential of its young people - the power to create change, to restore, and to build a better future. Annual Science Week offers a valuable platform for learning about energy, science, and the environment. We hope participants will take away knowledge they can apply to their education and daily lives, ultimately contributing to the improvement of their communities and society as a whole. The Khanom Learning Center also holds strong potential as a family-friendly travel destination, complementing the province’s existing natural attractions. On behalf of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, we extend our sincere thanks to EGCO Group and Khanom Power Plant for organizing this initiative, which inspires creativity and nurtures the imagination of youth in this area and surrounding communities.”
Ms. Pinsuda Piampiti, Vice President-Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communications Division, EGCO Group, added, “With this year’s theme, “Scientific Innovation Discovery Journey - EGCO Base: Mission for Change”, Science Week 2025 at the Khanom Learning Center has transformed the learning center into a secret base for nurturing young innovators. Participants embark on an exciting mission to restore global balance through the “Triple R” concept: Refuse - to prevent environmental degradation from the start; Refill - to swiftly restore natural abundance; and Reverse - to transform negative impacts into positive outcomes and help re-establish ecological balance. A highlight of this year’s event is a dedicated space for primary and secondary school students in Khanom District, along with students from School of Architecture and Design, Walailak University, to mutually design community spaces and innovations based on the concept of regeneration. The 30 creative entries from the “Mission for Change” competition are showcased at the event.”
The Science Week 2025 features 3 zones:
- Zone 1 EGCO Base Mission: Step into the secret base and travel back in time to uncover the secrets of the “Triple R” concept. Be inspired to restore natural balance sustainably through a captivating 4D movie created by AI.
- Zone 2 EGCO Regenerative: Discover innovative ideas that help restore natural balance, including the “Slowing Down the Boiling World” ideas by young innovators from 2024, along with creative solutions from Thailand and around the world. Explore over 30 entries from the “Mission for Change: Reverse the Impact, Revitalize Future Community” co-design competition. These ideas come from primary and secondary students in Khanom District - drawing inspiration from real local issues - and students from Walailak University, who harness AI to visualize regenerative concepts. The Khanom Learning Center plans to share selected entries with local government agencies to support future development efforts in the district.
- Zone 3 EGCO Act Now or Never!: This space offers young innovators a platform to share their regenerative ideas for shaping the future of Khanom District. One of the key highlights is the “Re-Gen Hero” activity, where young participants use AI to transform themselves into heroes. At the same time, attendees can enjoy painting “regenerative tools” and scan the pictures to display them on a magical wall. The youth can also share their personal “world changing messages” in the event. EGCO Group will collect and compile inspiring ideas and messages to share with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, contributing to the development of future policies.
A variety of fun and educational activities are also lined up for participants to enjoy, including interactive quizzes with prizes and a chance to meet the EGCO Rangers - heroes on a mission to save the world from the Dark Devil. Following Science Week, the special exhibition will remain on display at the Khanom Learning Center through Children’s Day 202610 (10 January 2026), allowing even more visitors to explore and be inspired.
Miss Supassara Tuaycharoen, Mattayom 1 student, Thongniankhanapibal School, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, said, “I like the zone featuring the selected entries from “Mission for Change” co-design competition. One of my favorites is the “Thongnian Smart Park” project, created by senior students from my school. It’s about renovating old buildings and transforming them into a learning center and herbal trail. This reflects a real issue we face with old buildings at our school, and I think it’s a very practical idea. I also enjoyed the regenerative tool painting activity in Zone 3 - especially how we could scan our artwork and display it on the magic wall to share with friends.”
Ms. Jarawee Choopirom, a chemistry teacher, Thongniankhanapibal School, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, added, “Students visiting Science Week have gained valuable insights into innovation and been inspired by various ideas on how to restore nature. It’s a truly important issue that the world is taking seriously. Some of the information presented at this event isn’t found in textbooks, so it really broadens students’ perspectives and encourages them to keep learning. They especially enjoyed participating in all the activities - Zone 3 was a favorite, as they had the chance to explore how to use AI.”
