EGCO Group Listed as DJSI Member for 2nd Consecutive Years

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group has been selected as a member of Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) 2021 in the Emerging Markets Index in Electric Utilities category for the 2nd consecutive years. The world-class recognition emphasizes EGCO Group’s commitment to operate sustainable business by adhering ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles throughout the past 30 years since we have become the first independent power producer in Thailand. The Company also sets a goal to achieve the global low-carbon society trend.

Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, EGCO Group’s President, said, “S&P Dow Jones Indices have announced the 2021 DJSI members review on 13th November 2021. As a result of the announcement, EGCO Group’s is thrilled to be selected once again as a member of DJSI Emerging Markets Index in Electric Utilities category 2021 for 2nd years in a row. This success is a clear proof that our corporate sustainability standards match with internationally-accepted standards. It also reflects the Company’s commitment to operate sustainable business by adhering to good governance, environmental responsibility, and social development principles. EGCO Group has set the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutral within 2050 in support of global low-carbon society move and Thailand’s National Energy Plan. As part of its mid-term goal, EGCO Group aims to reduce carbon emission intensity by 10% within 2030. To achieve such goals, EGCO Group has identified the “Cleaner, Smarter and Stronger to Drive Sustainable Growth” direction. By “Cleaner”, the Company invests in environmentally friendly business and increases its operation efficiency to reduce carbon emission. “Smarter” refers to commitment to enhancing power security and investing in New S-Curve business to cope with digital disruption. “Stronger” means providing its shareholders with high returns through strong business partnership that nurtures mutual growth of all stakeholders.

DJSI is the index used as a standard to assess operational effectiveness of any world’s leading companies, ensuring effective operations across economic, environmental, social, and good governance aspects. DJSI is also a referral index for international funds for their investment decision. A DJSI member company can generate good and sustainable  return on investment and create long-term value to all stakeholders.
