EGCO Group granted “Human Rights Awards 2023” at good level for 2nd consecutive year

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group was granted the “Human Rights Awards 2023”, large business organization category, good level, for the second consecutive year from the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection under the Ministry of Justice. The company highlighted its commitment to human rights by introducing a more comprehensive policy to promote a non-discrimination environment and anti-harassment in the workplace. Ms. Salil Tirawat, EGCO Group’s Executive Vice President – Corporate Management, represented the company to receive the award from Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, at the Human Rights Awards 2023 announcement ceremony held recently by the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection, the Ministry of Justice, at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok.

Ms. Salil Tirawat, EGCO Group’s Executive Vice President – Corporate Management, said that EGCO Group has been operating its business by strictly adhering to the good governance principle, transparency, and accountability. The company is aware of and places high importance on human rights, which are the basic rights that everyone shall equally have. In the past year, the company has assessed risks related to human rights in every business operation. The assessment results were used to improve its human rights practice and promote a more comprehensive policy, which leads to an even better work environment. EGCO Group has focused on non-discrimination and anti-harassment practices, and promotion of knowledge and understanding among its employees of all levels to enable employees to treat others with dignity. The whistleblowing and investigation processes have been improved for better efficiency. In the past year, the company’s Human Rights Committee has not received any complaints or found unpleasant events that may lead to human rights issues.

“Winning the “Human Rights Awards” at the good level for two consecutive years is a clear proof of EGCO Group’s commitment to promoting human rights protection across all operations and as an integral part of our organizational culture. We are ensuring that all stakeholders are treated fairly, equally, and equitably. At the same time, we promote individual liberty to sustainably create positive impact within our organization and in the society. Such practice and policy support one of our important corporate missions: to become a good citizen who cares for the betterment of our communities and the environment,” said Ms. Salil.

The Human Rights Awards is organized by the Thailand Human Rights Committee, Department of Rights and Liberties Protection, Ministry of Justice. The objective is to select organizations in the government, state enterprise, business, social enterprise, and people’s sectors with outstanding performance and initiatives by adhering to the human rights principle. They are good role models for others in promoting human rights protection in a sustainable manner. In 2023, 109 awards were granted to selected organizations.
