CLARIFIES DRAMATIC INCREASE IN ITS Q3/1996 NET PROFIT

EGCOMP reported a summary of its reviewed quarterly financial statements as follows: (In Thousands) Ending September 30 3rd Quarter For 9 Months 1996 1995 1996 1995 EGCOMP/EGCOMP and its subsidiaries Net profit 576,213 118,090 1,184,641 724,534 EPS (Baht) 1.18 0.30 2.42 1.81 Electricity Generating Plc (EGCOMP) clarified the dramatic increase in its Q3/1996 net profit by Bt460.11 million or 63.50% as compared to that of previously year. The hugely increased net profit was a result of the profit sharing from the investment in the subsidiary, Kanom Electricity Generating Co., Ltd. (KEGCOMP). On June 19, 1996, KEGCOMP had been transfered Kanom power plant which is able to generate and distribute electricity to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). This leaded to KEGCOMP increased income and profit which will be later shared to EGCOMP.
