THE HIGHER PROFIT EXPECTATION OF EGCOMP

No. EGCO 310/279 Date: July 28, 2000 Attn: The President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Subject: The higher profit expectation of EGCOMP Referring to the news in the newspapers on July 28 2000 stated that Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCOMP) expects their profit in 2000 to be better than 2,647,000,000 Baht last year profit and EGCOMP will expand their capacity to be 5,000 megawatts and will use US$ 1,960,000,000 capital investment.Their source of fund will come from shareholders and debt.EGCOMP would like to clarify as follows: 1 In 1999, EGCOMP's net profit which came from the revenue of Rayong and Khanom power plant was 2,647,000,000 Baht . Currently, EGCOMP invests in Gulf Electric Public Company Limited and Power Project in Philippines which will be able to have revenue recognition this year. In addition, EGCOMP will receive dividends from Power Project in Philippines. EGCOMP total revenue for this year will come from Rayong and Khanom power plant, Gulf Electric Public Company Limited and Power Project in Philippines. 2 According to EGCOMP's capacity expansion to 5,000 megawatts within 3 years, EGCOMP will need the US$ 1,960,000,000 capital investment. However, the investments will occur periodically. EGCOMP will primarily use the fund from the IPO and SPO shareholders equity and 5,000,000,000 Baht debenture. For the additional fund, EGCOMP will seek for the suitable fund for each project. Share capital issuing will be the last source of fund EGCOMP will use and EGCOMP will have to submit to the shareholders and report to the Stock Exchange of Thailand accordingly.
